At least 13 people have been killed in a fire at a cafe in the Russian city of Kostroma on Friday midnight. Some others were injured. At least 250 people have been evacuated from that building.

The fire broke out at midnight at the popular Polygon Bar in Kostroma. It was started by a drunk man’s flare gun. A flare gun is a type of handgun that emits fire and smoke.

At 7:30 am, the fire was brought under control at Polygon Cafe. The injured people have been admitted to hospital.

The local fire brigade told, the fire was reported at 2 am local time on Friday. The fire spread over an area of more than three and a half thousand square meters.

About 270,000 people live in the city located on the banks of the Volga River, 300 kilometers northeast of the capital Moscow.
