The suspected attacker was arrested after a few hours of bomb blasts in Turkey, which killed six people. Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu announced this information on Monday morning.
Last Sunday at 4:30 p.m. local time, the entire area was shaken by the bomb attack on Istanbul’s densely populated Istiklal Avenue. At this time, six people were killed, and 81 people were injured.
The president of Turkey condemned the incident as a heinous attack and said that the attack smacked of terrorism. Before leaving to attend the G20 summit in Indonesia, he reiterated that it was a “treacherous attack.” Criminals will be punished accordingly.
The attacker is believed to be a woman. CCTV footage showed a woman sitting on a bench for more than 40 minutes and leaving a plastic bag there a minute or two before the explosion.
