Twelve people, including two women, died in a road accident near Joshimath in Uttarakhand, India. Three more people were injured.
The casualty occurred on Friday when a passenger four-wheeler lost control and fell into a ditch on the Urgam-Palla Jakhola village road in Joshimath.
According to local administration sources, two women and 10 men are among the dead. Also, three people have been admitted to a local hospital with serious injuries. Rescue operations are continuing, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) said. They also said they conducted a thorough search of the accident site, the vehicle and its surroundings. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief over the incident. Along with this, he announced to give compensation of 2 lakhs to the families of the deceased. He also ordered an investigation into how the accident happened.
