The head of the Islamic State, Abu Hassan Al Hashemi Al Qureshi, was killed. The organization confirmed this information on Wednesday.
A spokesman for the organization said that Al Hashemi was killed in a battle with the enemies of God. However, they did not give details about the date of death of their main leader or how and where he died. It is learned that the group has already announced the election of its new chief. In an audio message, the IS spokesman announced the name of Abu al-Hussein al-Husseini al-Qureshi as the new head of the IS.
Meanwhile, the United States claims that Al Hasemi was killed in an attack by the “Free Syrian Army” group in the southwest of Syria in mid-October.
It should be noted that the predecessor of Abu Hassan al-Hasemi al-Qureshi committed suicide to avoid arrest during the US operation in northwest Syria last March. After that he took responsibility as the head of the organization.
