Four suspected militants were killed in a gunfight with government forces in Indian-controlled Kashmir. The incident took place on the Panjatirthi-Sidhra road in Jammu city around 7:30 am local time.
Security forces asked a truck to stop outside Jammu city on Wednesday after noticing unusual movement on the highway. When the truck was stopped and a search was started inside, shots were fired at the members of the security forces. A gunfight ensued between the two sides when the security forces also fired back.
Police said that four suspected militants were killed in the incident. At least eight automatic rifles and some ammunition were recovered from the truck, police said.
Meanwhile, the driver of the truck fled away, police said. The police also said that an operation is being conducted to catch him.
